I wanted to talk to you about a concern I have regarding my 8-year-old son. He is a great kid and I love spending time with him, especially coaching his sports team for the past two seasons. However, we are facing a big issue when it comes to his behavior during practices.
Despite talking to him before the season started about being respectful and focused during practices, he still tends to act out and be disruptive. It’s frustrating to see him turn into a class clown, not listening, interrupting, and trying to be funny for his friends. It’s as if he is a completely different child when I am coaching, compared to when someone else is in charge.
I understand that some of his behavior is not entirely out of character, but it seems to be amplified during practice sessions. He sometimes does drills incorrectly or purposefully slow, which affects not only his own progress but also that of the entire team.
