Writing down and tearing up anger is helpful

In Japanese anger management, there is a practice reminiscent of the Hakidashisara festival, where people are allowed to smash small discs when they are emotional. It has been tested at Nagoya University in Japan and has shown promising results in controlling emotions.

Researchers found that putting emotions on paper and then destroying the paper almost completely eliminated feelings of anger. In an experiment at Nagoya University, participants were asked to write short opinions and then were given negative feedback. After writing down their feelings about the feedback and either discarding or keeping the paper, participants reported a significant decrease in anger when they destroyed the paper.

This technique could be useful for managing stress and anger, especially for entrepreneurs. It is similar to the Japanese cultural tradition of Hakidashisara, where people smash small discs to release anger. Destroying written text could be a practical and effective way to deal with emotions in a healthy manner.

The results of the study have been published in the scientific journal Scientific Reports and may provide valuable insights for anger management techniques in Japan. By writing down and then destroying negative emotions, individuals can effectively manage their anger and stress levels.
