March is Women’s Health Month, emphasizing the importance of long-term health through prevention. With insights from physicians across different locations, a comprehensive list of health checks for women at every age and stage of life has been compiled.

Dr. Christopher Chang, a reputable physician in allergy and immunology at Joe DiMaggio Hospital in Pembroke Pines, highlights the significance of looking beyond the checklist when it comes to health. Symptoms of recurrent infections or unusual infections can be indicators of underlying health issues, prompting further testing or referrals to specialists.

For women aged 18-39, recommended tests include cervical cancer screening, PAP and HPV testing, screening for gonorrhea and chlamydia, screening for contraception or contraception counseling, and recommended immunizations. As women reach ages 40-65, additional tests such as breast cancer screening, colorectal cancer screening, glaucoma screening, melanoma screening, lung cancer screening, and osteoporosis screening become important.

Once women are over the age of 65, it is essential to undergo a fall risk assessment and engage in fall prevention measures, as well as undergo hearing screening, osteoporosis screening, memory loss evaluations, and assessments for elder abuse/neglect. By staying proactive with these recommended health checks, women can prioritize their well-being and manage their health throughout different stages of life.
