Atlanta Bread, a restaurant in Wilmington, has announced its closure after nearly twenty years in business. Co-owner Jon Bibb shared in a statement on Facebook that negotiations for a new lease fell through when their space was already leased out by the landlord, CBL. The decision was made to close the doors for good this Sunday, as relocating the store was deemed too challenging and costly.

Bibb expressed gratitude towards the loyal customers and dedicated staff members who have been a part of Atlanta Bread’s journey over the years. He acknowledged the support and kindness shown by the Wilmington community to two college buddies who had a vision. Despite the rollercoaster of emotions, Bibb emphasized the appreciation for the love and words of encouragement received during this difficult time.

While the physical restaurant will be closing on Sunday, Atlanta Bread will continue to operate catering services until May 12. The staff will begin the moving process after that date, as indicated in the Facebook post. The closure marks the end of an era for Atlanta Bread in Wilmington, but the memories and connections made over the years will always be cherished.
