The family of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. appeared with President Biden at an event in Philadelphia. This gathering was expected to include 15 members of the Kennedy family, with Robert’s sister, Kerry Kennedy, speaking about their family’s support for Biden. Kerry was set to highlight how President Biden has championed the same rights and freedoms that her father and uncles stood for.

The Kennedy family’s endorsement of Biden was not a surprise, as they had previously expressed their support for him. However, this public show of solidarity was a significant rebuke of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s presidential candidacy. Throughout his campaign, Robert had emphasized that his administration would be a true continuation of the ideals of his father, Robert Kennedy, and his uncle, John F. Kennedy.

Despite his efforts to align himself with his family’s political legacy, Robert has faced pushback from several family members who have denounced his candidacy. Kerry Kennedy highlighted her concerns about the potential impact of Robert’s campaign on the upcoming election, including the possibility of helping former President Trump win reelection.

In a statement released in October, four of Kennedy’s siblings expressed their belief that his candidacy posed a danger to the country. They emphasized that while Robert shares their father’s name, he does not embody the same values, vision, or judgment. Rory Kennedy, another one of Robert’s siblings, voiced concerns about his candidacy potentially siphoning votes away from Biden and benefiting Trump in the election.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has faced criticism for his controversial remarks on a variety of topics, including vaccines and the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021. This has further fueled concerns among his family members about the impact his candidacy could have on the political landscape.
