Caitlin Clark, the NCAA’s all-time Division I scoring leader, has been invited to participate in the U.S.A Basketball national team training camp during the Final Four in Cleveland. This invitation is contingent on Iowa’s season being over. Clark has previously earned three gold medals with U.S.A. Basketball junior teams, most recently as a member of the 2021 under-19 squad.

Clark is projected to be the No. 1 draft pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever in April. She has been a ratings success for college basketball, with nearly 5 million people tuning in to watch the Hawkeyes second-round game against West Virginia. Joining Clark at the training camp will be a number of talented players, including five-time Olympic champion Diana Taurasi, former WNBA Rookie of the Year winners Aliyah Boston and Rhyne Howard, as well as Sabrina Ionescu and Shakira Austin.

The U.S. went undefeated in a FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament last month in Belgium, securing victories over the host nation, Nigeria, and Senegal. The Americans have a strong history of success in Olympic competition, having won the gold in every Olympics since the 1996 Atlanta Games. They will face tough competition in the upcoming Olympics, including Belgium, Japan, and Germany.

The U.S. is expected to announce the final roster for the national team sometime later this spring. Clark’s participation in the training camp will give her an opportunity to showcase her skills alongside some of the top players in the country as they prepare for international competition.
