Richmond Raceway Weekend Schedule for NASCAR Xfinity and Cup Series

This weekend at Richmond Raceway, two of the national NASCAR series will take place. The Xfinity teams will have a packed day of practice, qualifying, and racing on the .75-mile Virginia track on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Cup teams will practice and qualify on Saturday in preparation for Sunday’s primetime race. In addition, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour teams will also be in action on Friday at Richmond. Chandler Smith won last season’s Xfinity race at Richmond, while Kyle Larson won last season’s spring Cup race at Richmond.

The weather for the weekend is expected to be mostly sunny on Friday with a high of 67 degrees and a 4% chance of rain. Saturday will have cloudy skies with a high of 71 degrees, and a 4% chance of rain at the start of the Xfinity race. Finally, Sunday will have a high of 70 degrees and a 33% chance of rain at the start of the Cup race. Trackhouse Racing drivers Daniel Suarez and Ross Chastain will be looking to score the team’s second win of the season at Richmond this weekend.

On Friday, the garage opens at 9:30 a.m. with NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice from 12-5 p.m. for Xfinity Series teams, and 4-9 p.m. for Cup Series teams. Saturday’s schedule includes Xfinity Series practice starting at 8:35 a.m., Xfinity qualifying at 9:05 a.m., Cup practice from 10:35-11:15 a.m., Cup qualifying from 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and the Xfinity race at 1:30 p.m. Finally, on Sunday, the Cup race will take place at 7 p.m. with 400 laps and 300 miles. Ty Gibbs has been NASCAR’s most consistent driver this season.
