Georgia softball dominated Kennesaw State in a 10-1 victory on Wednesday, scoring nine runs in the first two innings. This impressive performance came on the heels of a game in which they only scored four runs on five hits. The Bulldogs almost doubled both of those totals against Kennesaw State, registering 11 hits and 10 runs.

In the first inning, Madison Kearney hit a two-run home run to start the scoring for Georgia. This was followed by Sydney Kuma getting hit by a pitch. Jaydyn Goodwin then advanced Kuma to third and brought her home after an error by the Owls’ second baseman. A single later in the inning scored Goodwin, closing out Georgia’s scoring for that frame.

The Bulldogs continued their offensive onslaught in the next inning, with Sydney Chambley and Sara Mosley hitting home runs with two strikes. A Tyler Ellison double brought in three more runs, increasing Georgia’s lead to 9-1 after two innings. Chambley hit another home run in the third inning, bringing the score to 10-1 before the game was called due to a run-rule.

Despite an error allowing Kennesaw State to score in the first inning, pitcher Shelby Walters earned the win after pitching for two innings and allowing only three hits. The Bulldogs used a total of four pitchers and allowed four hits, three walks, and recorded five strikeouts. Georgia had a deep bench in this matchup, with 15 different players seeing time on the field compared to Kennesaw State’s 8 players.

After a successful four-game stretch on the road, the No. 5 Bulldogs will return to Athens to face No. 20 Arkansas on Saturday, March 30th at noon in an SEC series matchup.
