Greyhills Academy Girls Dominate Arizona Science Fair Competition | Navajo-Hopi Observer

Greyhills Academy High School in Tuba City recently took part in the 2024 Arizona Science and Engineering Fair that was held from April 4-6 in Tempe. Two seniors from the school, Daneyah Chief and Shyla Manygoats, were able to secure three prestigious awards for their project titled “Enhancing water quality in arid regions: a sustainable approach for safe drinking water”. The project was entered into the earth and environmental category and managed to outshine 383 other senior contestants from all over Arizona, resulting in both students earning medals and cash prizes for their exceptional work.

Daneyah Chief and Shyla Manygoats were recognized for their innovative approach to improving water quality in regions that face arid conditions, such as Arizona. Their project demonstrated a sustainable method for ensuring access to safe drinking water, a crucial issue in these arid regions. By focusing on such an essential need and providing a practical solution, the students were able to stand out amongst their peers at the fair.
