Mr. Dong, 52 years old, has been dealing with ankylosing spondylitis in his hip since childhood. Over the years, the condition worsened, causing his legs to be 4 cm apart and making him limp. After undergoing hip replacement surgery, he can now walk normally. He expressed regret for not having the surgery sooner, given how simple it was and how quickly he recovered.

Mr. Dong first developed hip ankylosing spondylitis at the age of 9, leading to joint pain, stiffness, and limitations in his mobility. Despite trying various treatments, he only experienced temporary pain relief. As his condition progressed, it caused deformities and limitations in his right hip joint, resulting in a shorter leg.

Under the care of Dr. Dang Khoa Khoa at the General Orthopedics Department of Tam Anh General Hospital, Mr. Dong underwent a successful artificial hip replacement surgery using the SuperPATH technique. This minimally invasive approach preserved soft tissues and allowed for a faster recovery. Rehabilitation post-surgery was crucial for restoring his mobility and improving strength and range of motion in his hip.

Following the surgery, Mr. Dong experienced immediate pain relief, balanced leg lengths, and improved mobility. Dr. Khoa emphasized the importance of preserving natural body parts and using surgery as a last resort when necessary. Modern medical technology has made major surgeries like hip replacements less invasive and more effective, improving patients’ quality of life in the process.
