Hyundai Motor Group (the Group) has once again proven its success at the World Car Awards, with the Kia EV9 being named the 2024 World Car of the Year at the New York International Auto Show. In addition, the EV9 also won the title of 2024 World Electric Vehicle, while the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N was awarded the 2024 World Performance Car. These victories showcase the Group’s global leadership in electric vehicles and the technological excellence of its Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
These recent wins continue Hyundai Motor Group’s streak of success at the World Car Awards. In previous years, the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 each took home triple titles in categories such as World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle, and World Car Design of the Year. Furthermore, the Kia EV6 GT was named World Performance Car in 2023, and in 2020, the Kia Telluride was awarded the overall World Car of the Year title while the Kia Soul EV was named World Urban Car.
The Kia EV9’s victory at the 2024 World Car Awards is attributed to its innovative design, spacious seven-seat interior, and competitive price point. Built on the E-GMP architecture, the EV9 is the first Kia model to feature fourth-generation battery technology for enhanced performance.
