Is Sunscreen Necessary While Traveling by Car?

The sun in Hanoi is scorching, with temperatures reaching over 40 degrees. Even sitting in a car can feel unbearably hot, raising concerns about the need for sunscreen. The intense heat and harmful UV rays can make you feel tired and uncomfortable. The burning sensation is a result of the fabric absorbing heat, making even sitting in a closed car uncomfortable, especially during long journeys or busy rush hours.

Car windows cannot fully block UVA and UVB rays, making it important to take protective measures while traveling. To protect your skin, cover exposed areas like your face, neck, and wrists that come into contact with the steering wheel. Opt for sun-protective clothing like long-sleeved jackets and gloves to shield your skin from sunlight penetration.

Choosing fabrics with high coverage, tight weaves, and dark colors can help protect your skin from UV rays. Clothes labeled with a UPF rating indicate the level of sun protection provided by the fabric. Wearing a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and applying sunscreen with SPF 30-50 can further protect your skin from sun damage. It is also important to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged sun exposure.
