This week, FloSports, a global sports media company based in Austin, Texas, was honored by the International Sports Press Association at the annual AIPS Sports Media Awards. Their excellence in the Video Athlete Profile category was highlighted among more than 1,800 submissions from 141 countries across 11 categories. The competition went through several review stages before selecting the top three finalists, including the feature ‘Bob Beamon: The Legacy’ beyond The Leap’ as one of the top three in the Video Athlete Profile category. This feature delves into the intersection of the Civil rights movement with Bob Beamon’s historic long jump record at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, showcasing his impact on the sport then and now. The feature was released during Black History Month in 2023 and was prominently featured on the FloTrack and MileSplit channels.

FloSports has consistently made it to the top 10 in the AIPS Sports Media Awards for Video Athlete Profile over the past two years, with previous recognitions for features like ‘Allie Ostrander: Under Pressure, Gaining Your Life Back’ and ‘Caitlin Little: Fifteen Forever.’ Winners of each category in the AIPS Sports Media Awards receive prize money, with the overall winner taking home $8,000, the runner-up receiving $3,000, and third place earning $2,000. In addition to their recognition in the Video Athlete Profile category, FloSports was also acknowledged in two other categories during the long list announcement. ‘Noor’s Pursuit: A Young Muslim Woman’s Fight For Equality,’ a longform feature story on MileSplit, was recognized for Best Colour Piece, while ‘San Elizario: Una Forma De Vida,’ a longform feature documentary on MileSplit, was acknowledged for Video Documentary.
