Lufthansa will introduce its new “Allegris” cabin on Airbus A350 planes beginning in May, which will bring a new level of comfort to the airline’s passengers. The double bed-equipped first-class suite will initially fly to Canada and the US, with the first flights scheduled for May. However, due to supplier delays, the first-class suite will not be available until late 2024.

After seven years of development, Germany’s national airline, Lufthansa, is finally unveiling a much-awaited cabin upgrade. CEO Jens Ritter announced the delivery of the first airplane with the new Allegris cabin on LinkedIn. The Airbus A350, named Leipzig and registered as D-AIXT, will begin service to North America in May with flights to Vancouver and Toronto as part of the introductory phase, lasting several months. Flights to the US, starting with Chicago, will commence by late summer 2024, according to RTN.

The new Allegris cabin will feature upgrades in economy, premium economy, and business class, with a first-class cabin also planned for the future. Supplier challenges have delayed the launch of the first-class suite until late 2024. Lufthansa has not yet responded to a request for comment from Business Insider. The Allegris cabin design includes double beds and minibars among other amenities for passengers to enjoy.
