Meta announced on Monday that it will temporarily close its platform Threads in Turkey as of April 29 in order to comply with an order from the competition authority. This decision will not affect Meta’s other networks, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The temporary closure of Threads is in response to an order from the Turkish competition regulator, which prohibited the exchange of data between Threads and Instagram. Meta stated that they do not agree with the provisional order and believe they comply with all Turkish legal requirements. They plan to appeal the decision.

In the meantime, Meta will temporarily suspend Threads in Turkey while they work on resolving the issue with the competition authority. The company emphasized that this closure does not impact their other popular social media platforms.

Meta’s decision to close Threads in Turkey temporarily has sparked discussions online, with some users expressing disappointment while others support the company’s compliance with local regulations. Meta has not provided a timeline for when Threads will be back up and running in Turkey, but they are committed to resolving the issue as soon as possible.
