At the beginning of the 20th century, the estate had expanded to 3,961 hectares. Mansion Global reports that the property boasts 100 rooms spread across three floors, with three elevators, 17 themed bedroom suites, and five salons. The compound also includes amenities such as stables for 50 horses, a beauty parlor, hammam, and housing for staff members. Following Edmond’s passing, the property was inherited by various members of the Rothschild family until Edmond’s grandson sold it to the King of Morocco in the 1980s. However, it was never utilized by the Middle Eastern owner who purchased it in 2008.

The estate, which is currently up for sale, is rumored to be potentially the most expensive house in the world if it sells close to its asking price. Château d’Armainvilliers is speculated to surpass even Château Louis XIV, which was sold in 2015 for nearly $250 million. According to Meuwissen, the co-founder of Whisper Auctions handling the sale, a discreet sale is likely for the property. Interested buyers are already emerging from various regions, with one from East Europe, three from Asia, and one from Mongolia showing interest in the estate.
