Today’s plan includes dropping off samples to CheMin and conducting about an hour of remote science activities to document our surroundings. Mastcam will start by taking a 53-frame stereo mosaic of the fractured intermediate unit to the southeast, helping the science team plan our drive path after completing our drilling activities at Mary Anning. ChemCam will then analyze the target “Bishop’s Palace” for layering and possible diagenetic features, as well as take a long-distance mosaic of the “Maybole” target located on a nearby hill. Overlapping frames between the RMI and Mastcam mosaics will allow for comparisons between the two images.

Towards the end of the science block, Mastcam will take a documentation image of the ChemCam target Bishop’s Palace. Atmospheric monitoring activities with Navcam are also planned for the day. Later on, a MARDI image will be taken to continue the change detection campaign at our current location.
