Study on Future Energy Completes, Advocates for Electric Mobility and Smart Cities

The sixteenth session of the World Future Energy Summit, hosted by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), concluded on Thursday. The summit, held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, brought together experts in sustainability, energy, transportation, and urban planning to discuss future plans and solutions in the fields of electric mobility and smart cities.

The final day of the summit saw extended working hours after favorable weather conditions returned. While the first two days of the summit focused on topics such as green financing and limiting temperature increases, the closing day centered on electric mobility and smart cities.

Discussions at the Electric Mobility Forum included preparations for the adoption of autonomous transportation and the importance of cooperation between stakeholders in the green transportation sector. The UAE’s efforts to increase the sales of new energy vehicles to 50% by 2030 were also highlighted.

Speakers at the summit, such as Naveen Ahmed and Chris Wan, discussed prioritizing the adoption of electric vehicles in countries like Pakistan and emphasized sustainable planning for future cities and communities. A new project on clean energy and climate action between the European Union and Gulf Cooperation Council countries was also announced.

Startup companies and innovation were supported through dedicated areas at the summit, with a focus on showcasing products and solutions that promote sustainability. Susan Payne, COO of Sustainable Plant, expressed her company’s participation in the event, while other companies in the Masdar Innovation Zone highlighted their innovative solutions.

Lynn Al-Sibai, General Manager of RX Middle East and Chair of the World Future Energy Summit, discussed fulfilling COP28 pledges and partnerships formed at the event to support renewable energy sources. International participation in the summit increased by 55% compared to the previous year, indicating a growing interest in sustainable energy solutions.
