The incident occurred in the 200 block of Susan Drive and officers were called to the scene around 10:17 a.m. The individual was armed with a knife and officers surrounded them, initiating communication to de-escalate the situation. By 11:40 a.m., the situation was resolved with the help of the police department’s crisis negotiation team, Illinois State University Police, and the McLean County Sheriff’s Office.
At 12:20 p.m., police confirmed that the scene was secure and no longer active, ensuring that there was no remaining threat to the public and that no one was injured during the incident. Authorities are still asking the public to avoid the area of Susan and Parkway Plaza drives due to the earlier active situation. Nearby businesses are also being asked to be avoided for the time being.
