The advantages of yoga in hormone regulation

Yoga is beneficial for supporting hormonal balance, regulating hormones in the body, reducing stress, and promoting relaxation. Hormonal disorders occur when there is an imbalance in the body’s ability to regulate and control hormones due to a malfunction in the endocrine feedback system. This can lead to various health issues such as heart rhythm disorders, affecting bone and tissue development, and impacting fertility.

Some common types of hormonal disorders include menopause, diabetes, Addison’s disease, Cushing’s syndrome, Graves’ disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, prolactinoma, and endocrine cancer. Practicing yoga regularly can help reduce stress, depression, and anxiety, as it allows the body to release hormones that improve these conditions and increase energy levels and feelings of happiness.

During yoga practice, the body releases endorphins, which act as natural pain relievers, interact with receptors in the brain, and create a feeling of excitement, reducing stress and helping manage emotions. Yoga also helps lower cortisol levels, a stress hormone that, when elevated, can cause mood changes, weight gain, and insomnia. Serotonin, a neurotransmitter responsible for regulating mood, is also released during yoga practice, increasing energy levels and improving cognitive function.

Regular muscle exercise during yoga can increase metabolism, and focusing on breathing can stimulate the endocrine system to produce and distribute hormones effectively. It’s important to note that while yoga can support hormonal balance, it should not replace medical treatment for endocrine diseases. People with such conditions should seek examination and appropriate treatment from an Endocrinologist.
