High school softball games were played on Monday, April 15. In the game between Chapin and El Paso High, Chapin emerged victorious with a score of 13 to 2. Some standout performers for El Paso High included S. Gomez with 1 hit and 1 RBI, D. Villagrana with 1 hit and 1 RBI, as well as S. Flores and M. Estrada with 1 hit each. Chapin’s Khloe Jensen pitched a strong game with 2 strikeouts, while Fatima Hernandez hit a home run and drove in 2 runs, Yari Acosta had 2 doubles and an RBI, Nialani Mata had a double and an RBI, and Haylee Hernandez had 2 hits and 2 RBIs.
On the same day in high school baseball, Riverside defeated Bowie with a score of 15 to 3. The winning pitcher was Ferreyra, who recorded 8 strikeouts. Cervantes had a standout game with 4 hits, including a triple and 3 runs scored, while Cardenas had 2 hits including a double and an RBI, Ferreyra contributed 3 hits and 3 RBIs, Olivas hit a home run and drove in 2 runs, Rojas scored 2 runs on 2 hits, and Bermúdez had 2 hits including a double and an RBI.
In another baseball game, Ysleta beat Parkland 17 to 5. Santiago Osorio was the winning pitcher with 5 strikeouts in 3 innings pitched. Louie Lopez had 1 hit and 2 RBIs, Tavo Sanchez had a double and an RBI, Evan Martinez had 2 hits with 1 run scored and 3 RBIs, and Daniel Terrazas had 3 hits including a double, 3 runs scored, and 2 RBIs.
Lastly, Canutillo defeated Andress with a score of 14 to 0. The winning pitcher was I. Garza, who also had 2 hits and an RBI. I. Melendez contributed 3 hits and 3 RBIs, E. Fargas and E. Guerra each had 2 hits, with Guerra hitting a home run and driving in 4 runs, D. Cossio had 1 hit and 2 RBIs, P. Zuniga had 1 hit and 1 RBI, and J. Alcocer had 1 hit and 1 RBI.
