The highly anticipated Opening Day for the Yankees has arrived, marking the start of the 2024 season where they will face the Houston Astros. The focus is on which players will make the 26-man roster to kick off the season. Injuries to key players like Gerrit Cole, DJ LeMahieu, and Oswald Peraza have caused some changes to the projected roster, but manager Aaron Boone is confident in the players who performed well in spring training and a late addition to strengthen the bench depth. Let’s take a look at the complete Yankees Opening Day roster for the 2024 season.

The starting lineup remains mostly unchanged, except for LeMahieu, who will be sidelined due to a foot injury. Berti was acquired from the Miami Marlins and is expected to fill in at third base during LeMahieu’s absence.

On the bench, the Yankees initially considered carrying three catchers but traded Ben Rortvedt to the Tampa Bay Rays. Now, Wells will be the backup catcher behind Trevino. Cabrera will provide backup support for Rizzo at first base and can also play in the outfield if needed.

In the rotation, with Gerrit Cole out, Gil has earned the fifth starter spot. His performance will determine whether he stays in the rotation once Cole returns. Cortes will take on the role of the Opening Day starter, looking for a strong season along with Rodon.

The bullpen will see Weaver starting the season as Gil’s presence in the rotation has moved him to a relief role. The bullpen will play a crucial role in supporting the starting pitchers throughout the season.
