Michael Penix demonstrated his athleticism during Washington’s Pro Day, showcasing his speed, vertical jump, and broad jump. He ran a 4.53 hand time in the 40-yard dash, with a 36 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot, 5-inch broad jump. Penix stated that he only ran once to prove he could run and then focused on his throwing session. Despite missing a few throws, he felt good overall, acknowledging that missing three out of 60 throws was acceptable.
The New York Giants had a significant presence at Penix’s Pro Day, with head coach Brian Daboll, offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, and other key staff members in attendance. Penix is a highly regarded prospect, projected to potentially be selected late in the first round of the upcoming draft. During his time at UW, Penix had an impressive completion percentage of 65.4%, throwing for 9,544 yards with 67 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. He notably led the Huskies to the national title game last season, solidifying his status as a top prospect.
