Police officers in Boston observed a camp set up by pro-Palestinian students on the campus of Northeastern University. The camp was dismantled and almost 100 people were arrested on Saturday morning, according to the institution.

The university stated that what began as a student protest was later infiltrated by professional organizers who were not affiliated with Northeastern University. The university condemned the use of violent anti-Semitic insults, including ‘kill the Jews,’ and stated that they could not tolerate hate speech on their campus.

As part of the evacuation, almost 100 people were detained by the police. Students who could prove their affiliation with Northeastern University were released, while those who refused to do so were detained. The university announced that students detained on campus would face disciplinary procedures, but not legal measures.

Last week, demonstrations in support of Palestinians and against Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip spread across several university campuses in the United States. Columbia University in New York was the epicenter of the movement, with the university’s administration announcing that they had given up appealing to the NYPD to remove the camp set up on campus. However, one of the movement’s leaders was banned from entering the university area.
