Arizona Sports, a sports radio station, has been honored with the prestigious Crystal Award by the National Association of Broadcasters for its dedication to community service. It is the first time a sports station has received this award. The NAB Crystal Radio Award finalists were selected by a panel of judges from broadcasting, community service organizations, and public relations firms.
Ryan Hatch, the SVP/Market Manager for Bonneville Phoenix, expressed gratitude to all his teammates for their hard work in uplifting and informing the community. He highlighted the impact that their efforts have had on the community, whether through station programs or volunteering to improve neighborhoods. It is truly a remarkable achievement for Arizona Sports to be the inaugural sports station to receive this honor.
The announcement of the ten winners of the NAB Crystal Radio Awards was made at the NAB Show Conference. Judges commended Arizona Sports and sister station KTAR News for their Give-A-Thon for Phoenix Children’s Hospital, which raised a record $2.1 million in 2023. This is the sixth time a Bonneville Phoenix station has been recognized with the Crystal Award.
KTAR News has previously been honored with Crystal Awards for community service in 2022, 2018, 2016, 2014, and 2007. In recognition of winning five times, KTAR News received the Crystal Heritage Award in 2023. The NAB Crystal Radio Awards were established in 1987 to acknowledge radio stations for their year-round commitment to local community service.
