Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has launched an investigation into illegal vape and marijuana products being distributed by four Missouri businesses, one of which is located in Columbia. The state received reports that distributors were potentially violating the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, leading Bailey to issue civil investigative demands (CIDs).

Among the businesses that received a CID is Tariq Zeiadeah and Vape Society Supplies, located in Columbia. Other businesses that were issued CIDs include Smoke Smart LLC in Wentzville, American Shaman Manufacturing, Inc. in Kansas City, and CBD Kratom Connect LLC in St. Louis. Bailey specifically accuses the Columbia business of engaging in deceptive practices in the sale of e-cigarettes and vapes, while the other businesses were accused of selling Delta-8 products through illegal means.

These businesses are required to provide documents and information to the Attorney General’s office by May 10. The information requested includes identifying business owners, officers, executives, organizational charts, locations where business is conducted, products sold, terms of sale, pricing, inventory, and more.

The Food and Drug Administration had previously issued a warning letter to Zeiadeah in relation to electronic nicotine delivery system and e-liquid products offered for sale on Vape Society Supplies’ website. The letter highlighted specific products being sold without proper authorization.

ABC 17 News reached out to Vape Society Supplies for a statement on the matter. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
