The Cowboys are currently in discussions with Ezekiel Elliott’s representative, as reported by Josina Anderson of CBS Sports. ESPN has also noted that there is mutual interest in a potential reunion between Elliott and the team after he spent the 2023 season with the Patriots. Tony Pollard, a veteran running back, signed with the Titans as a free agent.

Ezekiel Elliott was drafted fourth overall in 2016 and has played seven seasons with the Cowboys up to 2022. He made headlines after his third NFL season when he held out for a new contract, eventually securing a deal with a favorable structure that kept him with the team longer than anticipated.

During his time with the Cowboys, Elliott earned accolades such as All-Pro and Pro Bowler as a rookie, and continued to receive Pro Bowl nods in 2017 and 2018. His most outstanding season was his rookie year, where he recorded 1,631 rushing yards, an average of 5.1 yards per carry, and 16 total touchdowns. Since 2019, he has only had one 1,000-yard season with 1,002 yards in 2021. Last year, Elliott’s performance dipped with 642 yards on 184 carries, resulting in a career-low average of 3.5 yards per carry.
