The American Cancer Society reports that the Black community has the highest death rate and shortest survival rate for most types of cancer in the United States. In an effort to change this trend, the Phoenix chapter of The Links, Incorporated is hosting its first Black Wellness Family Expo. The event aims to educate participants about various health conditions, including breast and prostate cancer awareness, kidney disease, and heart health.

At the expo, attendees will have access to free health screenings, including mammograms, as well as information and services related to healthcare. The event will also feature car seat safety checks and a complimentary lunch for each participant. It will take place at South Mountain Community College near 24th Street and Baseline Road. Those interested in attending can register for the event at blackfamilywellnessexpo.org/.

If you know of someone or a business that is making a positive impact in the community, you can nominate them on the Something Good page on azfamily.com. The page allows you to share stories of kindness and good deeds happening in your community.
