Burrell Behavioral Health is hosting a free suicide prevention summit for men at Hammons Field in Springfield, addressing the above-average male suicide rate in the area. The event will include open discussions about suicide prevention and activities to encourage a relaxed dialogue on serious topics. Attendees can participate in an on-field warm-up led by Louie, the Springfield Cardinals mascot, enjoy coffee and donuts, enter prize raffles, engage in brain science exercises, and have the opportunity to play catch and take swings on Hammons Field. Former professional baseball player Drew Robinson will share his own mental health journey following a survived suicide attempt.

Organized by Nia Howard, the event aims to address the difficulty men may face in discussing mental health and suicide due to societal stigmas. The goal is to create a safe space for men to open up and seek help without judgement. The event starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday and will conclude at 12:45 p.m. Registration is required to attend the event. For more information and to register, visit the provided link.
