Google will be updating its Terms of Service on May 22 to provide clarity regarding conflicts and the ownership of original content generated by AI. The update aims to inform users of what they can expect from the technology company and its users when using its digital services and products.

The update will not change how the services are utilized, and Google has started notifying users of the upcoming changes via email. One key change involves clarifying the ownership of content created by generative AI. Google states that it will not claim ownership of the original content generated by its services, including generative AI.

Additionally, the update addresses the responsibilities of each party in the event of a dispute for violating the terms of use. Google outlines that it may suspend or cancel access to services and may implement other remedies as per applicable law. In case of disputes with the company, users will have the opportunity to describe any discrepancies and work to resolve them.

Furthermore, Google has introduced a section dedicated to addressing abuse by users of the company’s services. Due to a small number of people not following the rules, Google now provides more examples and details about inappropriate use and interference with services that are not permitted.
