Free agency began eight days ago and already, the majority of the best players available have found new teams or been tagged by their current teams. Charean Williams compiled a list of the top 100 free agents, with most of them already signed or unavailable for signing. Only 18 of the 104 players on the list are still waiting to be signed by any team.
The top available player is cornerback Xavien Howard, followed by other notable players like guard Connor Williams, tackle Trent Brown, cornerback Steven Nelson, safety Justin Simmons, and edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney. The remaining players on the list include Stephon Gilmore, Julian Blackmon, Dalton Risner, Derek Barnett, Tyler Boyd, Mike Williams, Randy Gregory, Calais Campbell, Josh Reynolds, Ryan Tannehill, Mekhi Becton, and Odell Beckham, Jr.
The current trend in free agency seems to be focusing on one-year deals. While some players like OBJ have secured significant one-year deals in the past, most of the big money contracts have already been spent. Players are now looking to sign shorter-term deals with the hope of proving themselves and landing a bigger payday in the future.
