The San Francisco 49ers are considering a contract extension for Brandon Aiyuk, but with the NFL Draft approaching and the chance to add more picks, all options are on the table. According to The Athletic, the team has been in talks with other teams about potentially trading Aiyuk, including a team within the top 10 picks of the draft. Deebo Samuel, another 49ers wide receiver, is also reportedly available for trade as the team works on an extension for Aiyuk. While the team would prefer to keep both receivers, it’s possible that one of them may be playing for another team next season.

The future of Aiyuk with the 49ers is uncertain due to several factors. He is currently playing under his fifth-year option, which amounts to $14.1242 million, and is seeking a new contract. Although his agent denied reports of Aiyuk requesting a trade, he may not want to play on the fifth-year option and is looking for a more lucrative deal. If Samuel is traded, the team that acquires him would have two years and $52.8 million remaining on his three-year extension, which began before the 2023 season. Samuel had a productive season last year with 60 catches for 892 yards and a touchdown.

The 49ers have the option of moving up in the draft to select a receiver to replace Samuel or Aiyuk. The decision of which wide receiver to target will depend on the team’s preferences and goals for the upcoming season.
