Oracle Corp. has announced that its planned campus in Nashville, Tennessee, will serve as the company’s world headquarters. CEO Larry Ellison made the announcement during a conversation about health care technology with former U.S. Sen. Bill Frist at the Oracle Health Summit. In 2021, a Tennessee panel approved $65 million in state incentives for Oracle, with the company planning to create 8,500 jobs and invest over $1 billion in Nashville over the next decade.

The decision to choose Nashville as the location for Oracle’s headquarters was based on the city’s status as a center for the U.S. health care industry. Ellison, who purchased electronic medical records company Cerner in 2022, pointed out that Nashville has more than 900 health care companies employing over 550,000 people. Major companies like HCA Healthcare and Change Healthcare are headquartered in Nashville, making it an ideal location for Oracle.

Ellison emphasized that Nashville offers a high quality of life and a vibrant culture, making it an attractive place for employees to live and work. The city’s strong health care industry also aligns with Oracle’s business interests. The company has purchased 60 acres in downtown Nashville for its new campus and has made a significant upfront investment in public infrastructure, including a pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland River.

Plans for the Oracle campus in Nashville include a community clinic, a concert venue, a hotel, and a restaurant. Ellison expressed his excitement about the move and the company’s future in Nashville, emphasizing the city’s unique attributes and appeal to employees. With this move, Oracle aims to establish a strong presence in a city that is at the heart of the health care industry and offers a high quality of life for its employees.
