Curiosity is currently exploring the Naukluft Plateau, making progress as she continues her journey. On Sol 1284, Curiosity traveled approximately 27 meters, bringing the total distance traveled to around 12,549 meters. The plan for today is quite simple – in the morning, Curiosity will use Mastcam and ChemCam to study two targets named “Mulden” and “Koigab” in order to analyze the bedrock in the area. Additionally, a Mastcam mosaic will be taken to study the local stratigraphy before continuing to drive northwest.

After the drive, post-drive imaging will be conducted to prepare for contact science activities over the weekend. Tomorrow morning, Curiosity will engage in various observations using Navcam, Mastcam, and ChemCam to monitor the atmospheric conditions and search for any signs of clouds. As the Geology Science Theme Lead (GSTL) on duty tomorrow, I am excited to plan for contact science activities during Curiosity’s mission.
