Valley City State University (VCSU) has recently announced the addition of competitive shooting as a coed intercollegiate sport for students. The VCSU Shooting Sports Team will be competing in trap competitions starting in Fall 2024. President Alan LaFave expressed excitement for this new opportunity, stating that clay target sports have been gaining popularity and the university wants to provide students with the chance to participate in activities they enjoy. The addition of the Shooting Sports Team as an official sport at VCSU is something that the campus is eagerly anticipating for the upcoming fall season.

Team Coach and Professor Dr. Nick Galt encouraged interested students to visit VCSU to tour the facilities and learn more about the team’s tuition assistance program. The VCSU Trap Club, which has been operating as a student-led club on campus since 2020, has seen success at the state level with recent accomplishments such as a first-place finish in Single Trap and American Trap at various competitions. The team currently practices at OH Range in Valley City.
